To Have and to Hold

When I was growing up, weddings in the Black community were a time for celebrating in grand style. My grandmother, Helen Armstrong Jordan, was an awesome florist and wedding decorator/coordinator. The churches were always full of natural greenery, flowers, and candles. My sister and I would sometimes assist her when we were teenagers. She often hosted the bridal shower as well. Her husband, Alonzo Jordan, was the photographer. He took beautiful pictures. They were an amazing team.
